Credit Card Due

I hought I had paid all of my credit card bills. It turns out there is one I did not take care of. Apparently I made a $5.02 purchase at CVS a few days before I went to jail. Now I owe money.

I don't have any money to pay the bill, nor do I have any way to pay the bill if I had the money. I'll get a late fee on my credit card and if it continues, I'll owe hundreds when I get out.

I don't have stamps. I don't have much of anything.

Daily Classes

Here in jail I've been told I can start going to two classes. One is on alchohol, the other a Bible study. It gives me something to do. I still have not heard anything about getting into the ACT program. Of course, I haven't actually been to wither of these two classes either.

They are supposed to call me out for my classes, but it's been a week and I have yet to be able to go to either one.

I just don't know if I can make it in here for 12 months. There is nothing to do. I just don't think I can make it.

Pay Per Post

I make money by getting paid to write articles on my blog for a company called Pay Per Post (PPP). Pay Per Post agregates writing assignments from different companies onto their web site and allows you to select the assignments that match your site and appeal to you.

At any given time there are about 80+ assignments available that pay anywhere from $5 to over $300. You get paid for writing an average of 100 words and including a link to the advertiser's website. You even get paid $10 for your first 100 word writing assignment about Pay Per Post. (Payments are made through PayPal)

Check it out. There is no obligation when you sign up. Click on the graphic below.

Posting in Absentia

I was given a sentence for my DUI that has a release date of May 2008. I can't get to a computer, so someone else is typing this for me. I'm about broke, all I have is $12 in my account.

The idea here is to try to monetize this blog and have some money when I get out of jail. Maybe to even give me some spending money while I am in jail.

In the big house

Today they moved me to the general population and gave me a room, with a roomate. She is not nice to me and wants me to sleep on the top bunk.

Because I had surgery on my arm a few days ago, I can't get into the top bunk. I'm going to ask if I can change to another room and sleep on the bottom bunk.

The Deputy says there is nothing in my file that says I have a problem with my arm.

Visits in Jail

I was staying Demeter House with some other women for a while. We were all there getting treatment for substance abuse problems. One of my new friends from there came to visit me recently after I went to jail here in Arlington County Virginia. They would not let her in to visit me in jail because she did not have a license, or other identification.

Visiting times are every day, which is nice. But I have no one to visit me.

Visiting times are:
3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
On Saturday and Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and then from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Conviction

Today the court sentenced me to serve a jail term. My release date is May 2008, which means I've got a year. There is a substance abuse program, called ACT, that I can take here at the Arlington County jail. The Act program lasts for maybe six months. The judge said once I complete ACT to come and see her again about getting released early.

I suppose the judge actually sentenced me to the ACT program, but since she cannot require me to complete it, she gave me the year with the reduction as incentive to complete the program.

No Car

Part of the legal process is that I have lost my driver's license. As a consequence, I have sold my car because I don't need it in jail, and I won't be getting my license back for three years. That is three years after I get to court.

I've gone to the DMV and gotten my "walking license", which is what they call an ID card here.

Poker with a Dummy

I've tried playing Texas Hold'em poker, but I really can't play that well. I've been staying in an in-patient treatment facility and on my weekly visits my friend brings cards and chips and we play three handed poker. It's me and him and a "dummy" player to keep it from being just us two. I don't win that much. On a lot of the hands the dummy even beats me and takes my chips.

I'm going to start practicing online at Absolute Poker and see if I can get any better.

Another site that talks about poker is http://redwhiteandbluepoker.blogspot.com/

Give them a try and let me know what you think.

Paypal

My lifestyle tends to have me packing up all my belongings and putting them into or out of storage on a regular basis. A couple of years ago I found myself needing money and learned how to sell some of my junk on eBay. The main thing I sold at first was perfume people had given me that was still new in the box. To do this I needed Paypal. Once my existing junk started selling I began buying new things and selling them.

I never really got a business going with it, but it did give me a few hundred dollars when I really needed it. I'd reccomend Paypal to everyone.
